De Brauw expands its European practice in Brussels, adding Jaap de Keijzer

Jaap de Keijzer will strengthen De Brauw's practice in Brussels as of 1 November.

Martijn Snoep, managing partner of De Brauw: "We are extremely pleased about Jaap de Keijzer's return. We have known him for at least 20 years. He made significant contributions to our firm until 2009, to the Energy practice, to name just one area. He has been a member of the Board of Management of the NMa for the last two years, being responsible specifically for the regulation of the energy and transport sectors. We have seen a sharp increase in interest in Europe amongst our clients and are very pleased that we can readily further strengthen our position in Brussels in this way. Jaap de Keijzer will focus on competition law, state aid, and the various regulated sectors, including in particular the financial sector."

Jaap de Keijzer: "I have noticed in the past few years that policy and legislation are increasingly coming from Europe, and quickly. And when you open the newspaper, you just can't avoid Europe. It is extremely inspiring to be in the middle of things, and to be able to contribute to further development of the European practice of the firm."

Jaap de Keijzer was a member of the Board of Management of the Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa) since 1 October 2009 and was with De Brauw from 1989 to 2009. He was managing partner from 2001 to 2006.
