Evert-Jan Henrichs is a specialist in employment and pensions law in De Brauw's employment and employee benefits practice. He advises and litigates on the full spectrum of employment related matters and is familiar with various industry sectors. In particular Evert-Jan has expertise in the field of co-determination, equal treatment, pensions and industrial actions.
Evert-Jan also frequently advises on employment, pension and co-determination aspects of large – often international - transactions (mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and outsourcing) handled by De Brauw.
Recent transaction related work includes:
- advise on co-determination and employment aspects of the acquisiton by Fortis of (parts of) ABN AMRO, the divestment of Philips’ semiconductor business and the divestment of AKZO’s pharmaceutical business.
Recent litigation work includes:
- litigation for Royal Ahold N.V. against two of its former board members and the subsequent settlement of Ahold’s claim, litigation on age discrimination and on “due care obligations” of board members of pension funds and litigation on various dismissal cases of board members and high level executives.
He also advised Unilever on the closing of three of its sourcing units in the Netherlands.
Evert-Jan is a regular guest speaker at conferences and forums and he also is a contributor to some of the leading journals on employment law. He is a member of the Dutch Employment Lawyers Association, the Dutch Employment Attorneys Association, the European Employment Lawyers Association, the Dutch Pension Lawyers Association and the Corporate Litigation Association.
