Bart van Reeken heads De Brauw’s information, communication and technology practice. He assists companies in reaching agreement in the context of outsourcings, information technology projects and joint ventures. In outsourcings he works with colleagues both from the ICT group and other practice groups, outsourcing consultants and law firms in relevant countries to create sollutions that work for both the clients and the providers. In disputes, he assists clients in creating new possibilities for resolving issues, and in obtaining the other parties’ cooperation in realising these. Where necessary, he assists clients in court proceedings.
Bart’s primary focus is information technology and structuring business relations between companies, both nationally and internationally. In the area of information technology his work covers a broad spectrum, ranging from regularly assisting in negotiating and drafting outsourcing agreements, software development agreements, software licences, implementation agreements, and telecom agreements, to handling IT-related disputes. In addition, Bart is experienced in setting up joint development, mutually integrated production and joint marketing arrangements. He represents both IT suppliers and corporations.
Recent work includes global IT outsourcings by a large corporate and a bank, global securities a global IT outsourcing by a bank, an EMEA wide IT outsourcing, a global securities processing, administration and lending outsourcing and several banking back office outsourcings.
Bart is a member of the board of the Platform Outsourcing Netherlands, the Dutch association of outsourcing clients and suppliers, lawyers and consultants; and an officer of the IBA Technology Committee. He co-chaired the IBA conference on technology and sourcing in the financial sector in May 2008, and spoke there on integrating multiple sources in outsourcing. Bart also co-chairs the ICT Grotius Post Graduate Course of Nijmegen University and lectures there on continuity in outsourcing and IT projects.
