Jean Schoonbrood specialises in corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions. He has particular expertise in corporate restructurings and the implementation of acquisitions, including cross-border mergers of listed and non-listed companies, demergers and all types of share transactions, such as share for share transactions, contributions in kind on shares, share premium transactions, share redemption schemes, repurchase of shares and squeeze-out procedures of minority shareholders.
As a notary, Jean regularly works with other practice areas in M&A work, corporate litigation work and finance work, both domestic and cross-border. His clients include both national and international public and private companies.
Jean advises a large number of listed companies on their corporate structure, their corporate governance and their defence strategies. He regularly advises a multinational oil company, a multinational company specialised in consumer goods and several multinational large building companies.
He is the author and co-author of several articles related to legal mergers and demergers as well as a leading study on the incorporation of companies for the Association of Civil Law Notaries. Jean is a lecturer in the field of mergers and demergers at Grotius University.
