Michael Schouten specialises in public and private M&A and has acted for a number of listed companies and private multinationals. He has particular expertise in public offers, divestments and corporate restructurings. He regularly works with global investment banks and leading law firms in other jurisdictions, and has a particular focus on the commercial and corporate governance aspects of transactions. Prior to joining De Brauw's M&A team Michael gained extensive expertise in corporate litigation.
Michael has recently completed his academic research on shareholder voting and will obtain his PhD degree later this year. His work has been published in journals such as the Stanford Journal of Busines, Law & Finance and the Columbia Business Law Review. He regularly lectures graduate courses on corporate governance, equity derivates and M&A, and is an editor of www.thedefiningtension.com, the Dutch weblog that provides perspectives on Dutch and international developments in corporate law.
