Ton Schutte is the resident partner in our New York office. The New York team focuses on corporate matters, particularly mergers & acquisitions and related financing, as well as stand-alone debt & equity financing and investment management work. Ton’s practic regularly provides advice in all aspects of the structuring of investments through the Netherlands and the Netherlands Antilles.

The work is done in close and same-time-zone cooperation with a variety of US law firms. While most of the work is done by De Brauw’s New York-based lawyers, many of the projects undertaken by these lawyers require intense coordination between the US client and the expertise of colleagues from  all departments of De Brauw in the Netherlands.

Some matters recently handled by the New York office include:

• assisting a US private equity fund on the acquisition and subsequent refinancing of a US - Dutch chemical services business
• advising a globally operating company on its restructuring and related security packages under Netherlands and Netherlands Antilles law
• acting as advisers on Dutch law for both strategic and private equity parties in acquisitions in the pharmaceutical, IT and hospitality markets.

Ton and the other New York-based lawyers advise on Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles and Aruban law. The client base consists of a number of US corporations and financial institutions and a group of premier US law firms.

Ton is a member of the American Bar Association.
