Jolbert Smilde specialises in international and national arbitration and in complex commercial litigation before the Dutch courts. He advises and litigates on behalf of large corporate clients on a wide range of subjects, including commercial contracts, post M&A disputes and insurance matters. Jolbert has represented clients in ad-hoc arbitrations, but also on institutional arbitrations administered by leading arbitration institutes, including the ICC and NAI. Recent work includes:
- Representing an oil company in court proceedings regarding a post M&A dispute;
- Acting for a global travel company in an ICC arbitration regarding the use of travel data;
- Representing a chemicals company in an NAI arbitration regarding a dispute over a distribution agreement;
- Acting for a Dutch medical systems supplier in arbitration proceedings in Germany under the ICC rules.
In addition to his litigation and arbitration expertise, Jolbert also has significant experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, where he advised multinational corporations on acquisitions and divestments, including public take-overs, as well as general corporate matters.
