Bernard Spoor is a partner in the firm’´s Investment Management Group. Bernard specialises in the structuring of investment funds, corporate structuring and corporate finance transactions involving investment institutions. He also advises clients on financial markets regulation. He works with other practice areas of the firm in transactions involving investment institutions and regularly teams up with other international law firms in cross-border matters.

Bernard has substantial international experience. From 2003 to 2007 he was the resident partner in De Brauw's New York office, advising US and international clients on cross-border corporate finance, investment management and capital markets transactions, as well as corporate restructurings. From 1992 to 1996 he worked in the firm’s London office, where he advised on banking, capital markets and structured financing transactions, and has been on secondment to a U.S. investment bank. Upon his return to Amsterdam in 1996, Bernard joined the corporate/M&A practice and has been involved in a variety of corporate transactions including public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings and IPOs.

Bernard has contributed to a number of publications on Dutch corporate and securities laws and Euronext rules, and is a frequent guest speaker at conferences. He is a member of the Dutch Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Foreign Law Association.
