Dieter specialises in corporate law, in particular mergers and acquisitions. He advises multinational clients on complex private multi-jurisdictional acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures, as well as public takeovers.

Recent work includes advising:

  • Philips Electronics on the acquisition of Preethi, a leading kitchen appliances business in India
  • GEA Group AG (Germany listed) on the EUR 435 million acquisition of CFS Holdings from AEA Investors
  • Royal Vopak on the buy-out of its 50% partner in an Estonian joint venture, and the subsequent formation of a new joint venture (Vopak EOS) in which Vopak acquired a 35% stake with an option to acquire up to a 75% stake
  • Corus on the divestment of its primary aluminium business located in the Netherlands and Germany to an affiliate of investment firm Klesch & Company Limited
  • AkzoNobel on the USD 1.3 billion divestment of its National Starch business to Corn Products International

Prior to joining De Brauw, Dieter was an attorney and conveyancer in South Africa, where he practised corporate law and was a partner in a leading Pretoria law firm. Dieter is also an alumnus of Slaughter and May's corporate department in London. 

Dieter won ILO's 2010 Client Choice Award for best M&A lawyer in the Netherlands and was nominated for best M&A lawyer in 2011.
