Financial Markets Regulation

"De Brauw are on the up, and market leaders when it comes to regulatory work" (IFLR 1000, 2009)

De Brauw's Financial Markets Regulation practice (FMR), headed by Marnix Somsen, combines thorough knowledge of and experience with legislation regarding the supervision of the financial services industry. The practice group's expertise also extends to administrative law and litigation.

FMR provides advice on all aspects of the regulation of the Dutch financial markets. This advice can encompass issues of regulation of the banking and investment services and insurance industries, including the offering of financial instruments, so-called innovative products, in the Netherlands, licensing, dispensation requests, registration and notification. In addition, FMR regularly deals with securities offering rules, listing and securities exchange matters, and inside information issues. Further, we advise clients on complex regulatory aspects of public takeover offers as well as mergers and acquisitions in the financial services industry. FMR advises and assists financial markets clients in regulatory investigations and represents them in administrative litigation.

FMR, as a standard service, renders advice on proposed European and Dutch legislation on an ongoing basis.
