De Brauw Green Team
Sustainability and the climate have been important items on De Brauw's agenda since 2005. In 2005, De Brauw commissioned its first environmental impact review (air travel, use of couriers and cars, energy use, paper, waste). Since then, De Brauw has had a Green Team that focuses on reducing the impact on the environment via a conscious policy. There has been a considerable reduction in CO2 emissions since 2005 and the ultimate aim is to become a carbon neutral organisation. Where further reduction of CO2 emissions is impossible, De Brauw will meet this goal by compensating for its emissions via the Hivos climate fund.
De Brauw has been pursuing greener business processes for a number of years. We have reduced our carbon footprint since the first measures were taken in 2004 by moving into our energy-saving office building - ‘The Rock’ - and switching to durable energy. But becoming carbon neutral and reducing CO2 emissions to zero is not entirely feasible. Therefore, De Brauw has decided to compensate its remaining CO2 emissions by collaborating with the Hivos Climate Fund.

HivosHivos stimulates people in developing countries to use and produce clean, durable energy sources, such as small-scale water power facilities, biogas installations and efficient stoves. De Brauw will provide EUR 25,000 to fund Hivos’s climate neutral projects, compensating for our remaining CO2 emissions in 2010.
