Jan Marten van Dijk is active in the entire spectrum of financing work, with experience ranging from equity issues and bank lending to regulatory matters. His practice covers initial and secondary public offerings and a variety of bank financing transactions, including bilateral and syndicated corporate loans, acquisition financings and debt restructurings. He has acted as lead counsel and local counsel on international transactions, cooperating closely with other top tier firms in other jurisdictions. He also has in-depth experience in corporate investigations into corporate governance deficiencies and fraudulent actions. Within De Brauw, he is responsible for the Dutch opinion to ISDA on close-out netting under the ISDA Master Agreement.
Jan Marten was previously with the Dutch Ministry of Justice where he was a senior counsel focusing on European and Dutch company law. Jan Marten is still consulted by the Dutch government as an expert on financial markets regulation matters. He also regularly publishes commentaries and articles in law journals. Jan Marten has been named the Best Lawyers’ 2012 Amsterdam Finance “Lawyer of the Year.”
Jan Marten obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam on 21 June 2016, with a dissertation about opinions, and his research into the opinion giver’s duty of care.
