Kees Groffen retires as partner
After 30 years at our firm, Kees Groffen will retire as partner. He joined De Brauw in 1995, was appointed civil law notary in 1999, and became a partner the following year. He was one of the few people in the Netherlands who are both admitted to the bar and a practising civil law notary.
Kees played a key role in developing our Financial Markets & Regulation practice. He became one of the leading investment management lawyers in the Netherlands and helped set up the De Brauw's investment management practice. His work has spanned the structuring and restructuring of funds, advising asset managers and pension funds, and guiding clients through a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
Over his 30 years at De Brauw, Kees has always adapted and helped ensure that the FMR practice stayed ahead of the curve. Clients value him for his clarity of thought, pragmatic approach, calm authority, and sharp eye for both detail and the bigger picture. For colleagues, Kees has been more than a trusted adviser and mentor. He is someone you could always count on for support, perspective and good company.
Kees: “Looking back, I feel privileged to have been part of so many exciting developments in investment management, and to have worked with such talented colleagues and clients along the way. It has been a remarkable journey; one I will always carry with me."
We now welcome Kees as an alumnus of our firm, and thank him for his many contributions, his guidance to colleagues, and the mark he has left on our clients and practice
