Pink Elephant is De Brauw’s network for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) colleagues and straight allies, and is run by the Pink Elephant Committee. It aims to foster an inclusive, integrated culture within our firm and to empower all LGBT members to achieve their full potential in an open-minded working environment.
The Pink Elephant Committee organises events for the entire firm, students and clients, such as firm-wide LGBT-themed drinks and events to celebrate Gay Pride and coming-out day. The members of Pink Elephant meet regularly in an informal setting and take part in various internal and external LGBT events, such as the Roze Zuidas Borrel and events organised by Stichting FORWARD.
All individuals at the firm, whether employed in a legal or non-legal capacity, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, are welcome to join or support Pink Elephant.
Best Friends Collaboration
The Pink Elephant Committee collaborates with De Brauw’s Best Friends on a biannual basis to exchange experiences, challenges, ideas, lessons learned and best practices regarding LGBT acceptance, inclusion and opportunities in the professional environment of a law firm.
De Brauw co-founded the Dutch legal LGBT network Stichting FORWARD, together with Allen & Overy, Baker McKenzie, Hogan Lovells, Houthoff, Jones Day, Linklaters, NautaDutilh, Norton Rose Fulbright, Simmons & Simmons, Stibbe and Van Doorne. Stichting FORWARD organises networking events for all LGBT and straight-ally legal professionals and creates a platform for the exchange of experiences and best practices.
