Summary

Mark’s multidisciplinary expertise – bridging corporate advisory, M&A and real estate law – provides significant in-depth knowledge and experience. Because of this, he is frequently involved in many international transactions.

 

Mark regularly advises clients –  ranging from multinational companies to private equity firms and global banks –  on joint ventures, acquisitions and related financing, divestments, governance matters, corporate structuring, real estate transactions and contract law. In addition, he often coordinates and works closely with our teams of specialists when complex matters demand both vision and know-how in the broader spectrum of legal issues.

 

Mark was resident partner in New York, beginning in 2011; he then returned to our Amsterdam headquarters in 2014. He is fluent in English and Dutch. He received his education at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and at the University of Utrecht.

 

Mark’s recent work includes advising:

  • HEMA on its commercial cooperation with Jumbo
  • Tata Steel on its European joint venture with Thyssenkrupp
  • Intergamma on the buy out of its largest franchisee, CRH/Van Neerbos,, and related corporate restructuring
  • CRH on the divestment of its European distributions business to Blackstone
  • Bouwinvest on various Dutch real estate investments and divestments
  • Inter Ikea on the acquisition of the supply, logistics and industry divisions of its main franchisee, Ingka
  • Unilever on the divestment of its sausage and soup processing unit in Oss
  • Royal Dutch SHELL on the divestment of a landmark office location
  • Vivat on the acquisition of parts of Blackstone’s Castor real estate portfolio
  • Klepierre on various Dutch real estate transactions
  • Lone Star on various Dutch real estate transactions
  • Unilever on the real estate aspects of its Global Foods Innovation Centre
  • One of the largest US-based pharmaceutical companies on its corporate structuring
