Bregje specialises in international commercial arbitration with a particular emphasis on sectors such as energy and natural resources, healthcare, telecommunications and technology. Her arbitration experience includes numerous ad hoc arbitrations under UNCITRAL rules and institutional arbitrations under the auspices of the ICC and the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI) for Shell, GasTerra, NXP, Philips and many other clients. Bregje regularly appears as counsel in arbitrations concerning long-term supply contracts, warranties, distribution contracts and infrastructure projects. Recent arbitration work includes price review arbitrations with values up to USD 1 billion and more. Global Arbitration Review notes that Bregje is “very solid and makes complex issues less complex.”
Bregje also has significant experience before Dutch state courts, where she represents numerous clients in procurements matters, and she has also argued cases before the European Court of Justice. Bregje has acted in many disputes against sovereigns and assisted clients such as Elbit, Thales and Pon in public tenders in the Defence Equipment Market. In addition to her practice, Bregje regularly lectures at the University of Amsterdam.
