Maurits specialises in financial markets regulation. He advises large financial groups on a broad range of regulatory matters, including licensing, conduct of business rules, capital requirements, recovery and resolution planning, and the governance and regulatory aspects of M&A transactions.
Maurits has significant experience in the wider field of EU law, including competition and state aid law. He has represented various clients in proceedings before the European Commission and the Court of Justice of the EU.
In 2017, Maurits was seconded to a large Dutch bank to advise on the implementation of new anti-money laundering legislation and the new rules concerning markets in financial instruments.
In 2018, Maurits was based at De Brauw’s London office and seconded to the financial regulation group of Slaughter and May, London.
