Martin van Olffen is a specialist in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. He has advised in virtually all recent contested takeovers in the Netherlands, developing and implementing defence strategies and negotiating settlement agreements.
Martin advises a large number of listed companies on their corporate structure and corporate governance. He frequently acts with other practice areas in M&A work for clients in national or international mergers, acquisitions and restructurings. In cross-border matters he regularly works with other international law firms.
Martin regularly advises one of the largest retail companies, one of the largest retail banks and one of the largest industrial companies in the Netherlands. Recent work includes advising on:
- the acquisition and demerging of one of the largest banks in the Netherlands
- an IPO of a Netherlands-based coal company in three jurisdictions
- a public offer on a Czech Republic-based pharmaceutical company.
Martin is a professor of corporate law at the University of Nijmegen and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. He has (co-)published several books and numerous articles on corporate law and is a member of the Joint Committee on Corporate Law of the Dutch Bar Association and the Association of Civil Law Notaries. Martin is also a member of the board of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Redding Maatschappij, the Dutch Royal Sea Rescue Institution.
