Rob Polak specialises in the defense of companies against mass claims, such as shareholders’ claims, consumer claims and mass tort claims. Because of his focus on the financial, aviation and fast-moving consumer products industries, he works with US and UK law firms on a daily basis. Together with Koen Limperg, Rob also heads De Brauw's tobacco industry litigation team.
Rob has represented several parties in parliamentary inquiries into the aviation and construction industries. His achievements in this field were recognised in 2005, when the Dutch Parliament appointed him to the unique position of Counsel to Parliament (parlementair advocaat). He continues to advise Parliament both on legislative projects as well as on litigious matters where the Dutch State is involved.
His practice also includes museums, art institutions and artists concerning disputes on title and cultural property issues. Rob has been involved in virtually all high-profile cases in the Netherlands in recent years, including the Goudstikker case, the Malevich case and the Koenigs case.
Recent work includes litigation on behalf of a multinational oil company, several multinational fast-moving consumer product companies, and one of the largest Dutch financial institutions, as well as advice to the Dutch Parliament.
