Nearly one in three foreign bribery investigations prompted by whistleblowers

The SEC’s whistleblower programme offers potential rewards to (former) employees who come forward. Kara Brockmeyer, chief of the SEC’s FCPA Unit, recently stated that 30% of foreign bribery investigations currently start off by tip-offs from whistleblowers. This shows that whistleblowers are an increasingly significant aspect of bribery investigations and how important it is for businesses to have a well-functioning whistleblowing scheme.
