Geert Potjewijd appointed chair of Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP)

Geert will take up this new position at the Dutch data protection authority on 1 August 2026.

He joined De Brauw in 1998 to practise commercial and corporate litigation. He became a partner in 2007 and went on to set up and lead the firm's China office in Beijing from 2009 to 2014. He was De Brauw's managing partner from 2016 to 2019, and has co-headed the firm's Data Protection practice together with Axel for the past ten years.

We congratulate Geert on this appointment and thank him for his considerable contributions to the firm over the past three decades. His work has shaped De Brauw and helped establish the leading position our Data Protection practice holds today.
