Irina Buga appointed to EU’s roster of arbitrators under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, as well as to the pool of arbitrators and trade and sustainable development experts under the EU’s trade agreements with third countries

Irina Buga has been appointed by the European Union, alongside five other individuals, to the roster of arbitrators for the settlement of future disputes between the EU and the UK under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA). The letter from the EU to the UK with the proposed list of arbitrators is available here.

The list is to be confirmed through a decision of the EU-UK Partnership Council under the TCA. Pending the decision of the Partnership Council, the individuals proposed by the EU may already be selected to sit on an arbitration tribunal under certain circumstances.

Irina has also been included on the list of individuals suitable for appointment as arbitrators and trade and sustainable development (TSD) experts in disputes under the EU’s trade agreements with third countries, available here .The European Commission will draw on this list to make proposals for the appointment of arbitrators or TSD experts in specific cases or for rosters under the relevant bilateral agreements with third countries.
