Paul Cronheim, Willem Bijveld and Frank Hamming in The Shareholder Rights and Activism Review

Shareholder activism is a hot topic in many Dutch boardrooms. In recent years, there has been a rise of shareholder activism in the Netherlands, in line with developments across Europe. In 2017 and 2018, several activist campaigns aimed at Dutch multinationals made headlines in the Netherlands as well as abroad, including in particular Elliott's campaign against AkzoNobel and the Boskalis versus Fugro battle. In the Netherlands chapter of the 3rd edition of The Shareholder Rights and Activism Review, Paul Cronheim, Willem Bijveld and Frank Hamming give an overview of the Dutch regulatory and legal framework in which listed companies and their shareholders operate, point out the key trends concerning shareholder activism in the Dutch market, and zoom in on a few topical battles between companies and activist shareholders.
