The impact for data-driven businesses of the e-evidence package
Digital evidence has become increasingly essential in criminal investigations in recent years. Gaining access, on the other hand, can be a lengthy process because the data in question is often stored in another country. To make this easier and faster for investigative authorities, the European Commission proposed a new framework of rules in this area in April 2018: the EU Digital Evidence Access Package or e-evidence package. Its final text was agreed on Jan. 25, 2023. This article provides an overview of the content of the e-evidence package, focusing on the impact for data-driven companies.
