Two new counsel at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek

De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek appoints Marlies Heemskerk - de Waard and Diederik Maessen as counsel. With these appointments, De Brauw both broadens and deepens its ability to provide excellent advice to its clients.

Marlies Heemskerk – de Waard Marlies Heemskerk – de Waard started her career at De Brauw in 2010. She specialises in regulatory and enforcement matters with a focus on corporate criminal law. She regularly conducts internal investigations and represents corporations and financial institutions in administrative and criminal enforcement proceedings. Marlies specifically focuses on economic sanctions and export controls as well as the criminal enforcement of health safety and environmental (HSE) violations. Marlies practiced in our New York office from 2014 through 2016, and gained particular experience in international enforcement matters, notably those involving US authorities. Diederik Maessen Diederik Maessen started his career at De Brauw in 2007. He is an expert in our broad transactional practice, with a focus on large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. Diederik regularly assists clients with overseas transactions, often in Asia and the Americas, and is actively involved in the full spectrum of corporate, financing, project and construction agreements. Diederik has ample international experience as Senior Associate in De Brauw's China office and as Foreign Associate at Slaughter and May (based in London and Hong Kong). In 2016, Diederik was seconded as in-house legal counsel to the global LNG team of Vopak.
