The Dutch emergency act on coronavirus-related matters allows an extension of the effective period if the development of the coronavirus pandemic justifies this. On 31 August 2020, a royal decree was published moving the end date of the emergency legislation back by one month, to 1 October 2020.

According to the decree’s explanatory notes, it is likely that the duration of the bill will be extended again before 1 October 2020.
