De Brauw advised GMR Infrastructure on the divestment of its 50% interest in InterGen N.V., with a deal value of USD 1.2 billion. InterGen is a global power generation company with 12 power plants located in the UK, the Netherlands, Mexico, the Philippines and Australia.
This was a strategic move for GMR: the company is seeking to invest more capital in the Indian market. The purchaser, China Huaneng Group, already operates 154 power plants, and by acquiring a 50% interest it will gain access to power plants in the Netherlands, UK, Mexico, the Philippines and Australia.
De Brauw also advised GMR Infrastructure in 2008, when it acquired a 50% interest in InterGen from AIG.
Team: Ton Schutte, Marnix Leijten, Martin van Olffen, Rene Clumpkens, Julie Nieuwe Weme, Edward van Geuns, Mauricette Schaufeli, Nick van Dijk, Niels Geuze
