De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek has appointed five new partners effective 1 January 2023. The appointments reflect De Brauw's continued commitment to having a broad range of market-leading practices.

Anja Mutsaers, member of the Management Board: "We are excited to welcome these five excellent lawyers and great personalities to our partner group. They have each built a strong track record in their areas of expertise and are greatly committed to the firm and its clients. Together, they represent a new generation of lawyers who will strengthen our absolute commitment to deliver the best outcome for our national and international clients in complex, and often multidisciplinary, corporate transactions, disputes and regulatory enforcement matters."

The newly appointed partners are:

Mariska Enzerink

Mariska specialises in investment management and financial market regulation, covering both advisory and transactional matters. She has taken leading roles in advising fund managers, investment firms and other regulated entities on issues of strategic importance - including structuring and restructuring, governance and conduct of business - as well as on dealings with regulators. She is also frequently involved in regulatory matters that arise in complex transactions for corporate clients and private equity.

Bas Boutellier

Bas specialises in finance, debt capital markets and restructuring matters. His practice covers the full spectrum of investment grade and leveraged lending and capital markets transactions, and often involves highly complex and multi-faceted cross-border matters. Bas has taken leading roles in negotiating large corporate credit facilities and high yield bond issues, and he is best known for his role in some of the largest acquisition financing transactions of the past few years. He will be a partner in our corporate group, working closely with our M&A, corporate advisory, equity capital markets and restructuring partners on a variety of capital structure solutions.

Tijmen Klein Bronsvoort

Tijmen specialises in corporate law with a focus on cross-border transactions and corporate governance. Since joining De Brauw in 2011, Tijmen has advised internationally operating listed companies on a wide range of matters, including on corporate governance, M&A transactions, and anti-takeover responses (including those related to shareholder activism). He also regularly advises private and state-held enterprises on a wide range of corporate issues.

Axel Arnbak

Axel is co-head of the Data Protection and Cybersecurity practice of De Brauw. Axel is best known for assisting clients facing landmark collective actions under the GDPR and for his leading role in defending clients in investigations by Data Protection Authorities or related regulators across Europe. Axel also advises on high-risk and cutting-edge technology projects, cyberattacks, and personal data breaches.

Jan-Willem Meijer

Jan-Willem is a seasoned and well-known Supreme Court litigator. He has successfully handled many corporate and commercial litigation cases, with a particular focus on handling appeals to the Supreme Court. He regularly acts on behalf of financial institutions and corporate clients facing complex procedural challenges in the Dutch courts. Jan-Willem has also been involved in defending the largest claim ever awarded in the history of the Dutch legal system and is well known for his leading role in the largest class action litigation and settlement in Europe to date, the Fortis-settlement. Jan-Willem's appointment as a partner illustrates De Brauw's continued commitment to its leading Supreme Court practice, that welcomes his continued contribution to the team.
