De Brauw appoints two counsel

Remco Kloppenburg

De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek has appointed Remco Kloppenburg and Jasper van Uden as counsel. With these appointments, De Brauw reinforces senior expertise in its litigation and regulatory practices.

Dennis Horeman, managing partner, comments: "Remco is an excellent litigator and Jasper is an outstanding regulatory expert. We are pleased they will continue to build on the positive impact they bring to our firm, expanding and strengthening these practices. Their new roles will directly benefit our clients and help ensure that they receive exceptional representation from our firm."

Remco Kloppenburg

Remco has more than ten years' experience in our litigation practice, dealing with all aspects of contract, liability and insurance law before the Dutch courts. Going beyond the traditional role of litigator, Remco advises a wide range of clients on complex cross-border disputes. Remco is also specialised in seizure and execution, working regularly with law firms worldwide on coordinated enforcement actions. His clients range from rising tech companies to established industry leaders, who praise him for explaining complex legal concepts in plain language. Moreover, Remco is very familiar with the Dutch class action regime, focusing in particular on consumer law claims. Until recently, Remco chaired De Brauw's works council, presiding over a period of productive interaction with staff and management alike.

Jasper van Uden

Jasper is an expert in public law, focusing on complex matters in energy law, environmental law and sustainability and climate law. Regulatory issues, especially politically sensitive matters and enforcement disputes, form part of his vast experience. Jasper acts for vital state-owned entities and major private companies, and he works on key energy transition projects. Jasper frequently deals with regulators and handles the litigation side of matters when necessary. Key matters he recently worked on include the nature permits for the Porthos project and Schiphol Airport.
