
Andreas is a senior adviser on law and AI in De Brauw's Data, Privacy & Platform Enforcement practice. He advises clients on questions relating to AI, data protection and the AI Act. Having obtained his PhD thesis on AI, Andreas offers specific expertise about how AI works from a technological and conceptual perspective, which is invaluable for clients seeking AI advice.
Andreas combines his legal practice with academia. He is an Assistant Professor of Privacy and Data Protection Law at Open University in the Netherlands. Andreas contributes to leading academic journals and prominent publishers, including IDPL (Oxford University Press), Computer Law & Security Review (Elsevier), Journal of AI Law and Regulation (Lexxion), IEEE, and Springer. He contributed to the AI Act commentary published by Bloomsbury. Andreas also gives guest lectures and speaks at international conferences, for example at CPDP and MIT.
Before joining De Brauw, Andreas worked for the privacy and cybersecurity practice of an international law firm based in Amsterdam. Before that, Andreas was part of the Privacy and ICT law practice at a "Big four" accountancy firm in Zurich.
