Rik van Haeringen is a partner in De Brauw’s Employment, Pensions & Remuneration practice. He advises clients on strategic, high-stakes employment matters, ranging from complex employment litigation and co-determination processes to reorganisations, executive dismissals, collective redundancies, and industrial action. A significant part of Rik’s practice focuses on the employment aspects of M&A transactions, where he regularly acts on complex cross-border matters. In addition, he has extensive experience in advising clients on the implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive.

Rik regularly publishes and speaks on employment law topics, including at employment law masterclasses. He completed the Grotius employment law post-doctorate programme with honours in 2023 and is recognised by Legal 500 as a key lawyer in De Brauw’s Employment practice.

Rik is a trusted adviser to many of De Brauw's clients, and counts among his diverse client base: Adyen, ABN AMRO, VodafoneZiggo, TenneT, Heineken, Parcom, Schiphol, Inflexion and The Magnum Ice Cream Company

Rik's recent work includes advising and representing:

  • ABN AMRO on the acquisition of NIBC Bank;
  • Booking.com on organisational changes leading to a substantial downsize of its workforce;
  • Akzo Nobel N.V. on its all-stock merger of equals with Axalta Coating System Ltd., creating a premier global coatings company with an enterprise value of approximately USD 25 billion and revenue of approximately USD 17 billion.
