De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek has advised international retailing group Ahold on reaching an agreement with supermarket chain Jumbo regarding the transfer of 78 C1000 and 4 Jumbo stores.
Ahold intends to convert the stores into stores operated under the Albert Heijn formula over a period of time, in close cooperation with the entrepeneurs who own the majority of the stores. The acquisition allows Albert Heijn to service consumers in 57 areas where it currently does not operate.
Ahold will pay Jumbo EUR 290 million in cash for this transaction, and will take over the real estate position of 78 of the 82 branch locations.
