Jaap specialises in M&A, capital markets and corporate governance. He has participated in friendly and hostile takeover bids, worked on innovative cross-border deal structures, and advised on IPOs. He also regularly advises clients on a wide range of corporate matters (including board structures, fiduciary duties, disclosure obligations and activist shareholders), and works on complex private M&A transactions and venture capital financing rounds.

Jaap is a noted expert on company law. He is Professor of "Legal Aspects of Corporate Transactions" at the University of Groningen, author of numerous publications on corporate law and M&A, and a regular speaker at conferences.
