Kees is counsel in De Brauw's Litigation department. A versatile litigator with broad experience across civil and administrative proceedings, his practice centres on competition and data protection litigation.

In data protection, Kees acts for major technology companies defending collective proceedings brought under the Dutch WAMCA, alongside claims under the GDPR, Digital Services Act and AI Act. He has represented a major social media platform, a short-form video platform, a cybersecurity software provider, a multimedia messaging application and a cloud-based CRM provider in actions brought by consumer and privacy advocacy organisations.

In competition litigation, Kees advises clients on cartel damages claims spanning a wide range of industries, including trucks, cathode ray tubes, prestressing steel, paraffin wax, sugar, bitumen and elevators.

Alongside his law practice, Kees serves as a deputy judge at the Midden-Nederland District Court. He also has an active pro bono practice in immigration law, providing litigation support to refugees and asylum seekers through a Dutch refugee support organisation.

Kees holds a PhD from Maastricht University, where his doctoral research focused on private international law and family law. Before joining De Brauw, he worked as a junior researcher and lecturer at Maastricht University, teaching courses in contract and property law, private international law, European family law and comparative law.
