Inter IKEA Group acquires the IKEA retail business in the Baltics

De Brauw advises the Inter IKEA Group on its acquisition of the IKEA retail business in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The Inter IKEA Group already owns purchasing, logistics and production operations in the Baltics. Through this acquisition the whole IKEA value chain in the Baltics will be connected, better positioning the Inter IKEA Group to learn and further develop the IKEA concept, and with that create value for IKEA customers everywhere.

The Inter IKEA Group owns the IKEA concept and is the worldwide IKEA franchisor. In addition, the Inter IKEA Group owns and operates the IKEA store in Delft, the Netherlands. All other IKEA retail operations are owned and operated by twelve IKEA franchisee groups, including the sellers under this transaction. The sellers will continue to own and operate the IKEA retail business in Iceland.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of calendar year 2024, subject to regulatory approvals.
